Guest Speaker | Sarah Thomas

Sarah Thomas changed the game in the world’s most quintessential male-dominated sport – football – when she became the first female NFL official. Now she’s inspiring others to dream big and believe anything is possible. She officiated her first NFL game on September 13, 2015, between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans – and on February 7, 2021, she became the first female to officiate a Super Bowl. Today, Sarah’s hat, whistle and flag are on display at the NFL Hall of Fame and serve as a testament to her historic achievements. Named one of the Sports Illustrated 100 most influential figures of all time, Sarah is no stranger to being the first or breaking gender-barriers. Since joining the NFL’s roster of officials, she has become a trailblazing inspiration to women everywhere, and she keeps the mindset of being the best you can be – no barrier or ceiling is shatterproof. Off the field, Sarah is a Marketing Specialist for Mid-South Rehab, Inc. and National Speaker for Keppler Speakers Bureau. She was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She is a graduate of the University of Mobile, where she earned a full scholarship as a basketball player and Academic All-American honors. She has had many national recognitions on her accomplishments throughout her journey, but nothing compares to being a mom to her three beautiful children, Bridley (23), Brady (20) and Bailey (11).

Guest Speaker | Terry Killens

Terry Deleon Killens is a former standout linebacker for the National Football League and now an Umpire for the National Football League. He played seven seasons in the National Football League for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. Killens was drafted in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft. In the 1999 season, the Titans made it to Super Bowl XXXIV. Killens has been a football official since at 2013, working in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). In 2019, Killens was also an official in the Alliance of American Football (AAF), working as an umpire on the crew led by referee Tra Blake. On February 11, 2024, while officiating Super Bowl LVIII, Killens became the first person to play in and officiate a Super Bowl. Terry (TK) is a native of Cincinnati, OH, where he attended Purcell Marian High School. He graduated from THE Penn State where he earned a degree in Communications. Killens played linebacker and defensive end for Penn State and was part of the Nittany Lions’ last undefeated season in 1994. He is currently working as a Campus Safety Specialist at city of Mason, while raising 5 amazing kids (Taylor, Trey, Taryn, Tory, and Jeciah), and now a doting grandfather to Jayson.
