Friends, family and supporters:
After thoughtful conversations over the last several months with board members and committee chairs, we have determined that due to the many challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic, we will be unable to hold our annual Extravaganza in the Rio Grande Valley in 2020. Unfortunately, we do not see a way to move forward in providing our sponsors and guests with a safe and enjoyable experience.
Right now, we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide scholarships to our community. While there’s a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.
Stars Scholarship Fund received scholarship applications from 2,288 eligible, qualified students in need of our assistance. Covid-19 has affected everyone, for students in our community their financial situation has become more dire.
The number of scholarships we provide is directly related to our ability to raise funds. The continued support of our donors through this has made all the difference and allowed us to continue our commitment to provide scholarships for the coming academic year.
Stars Scholarship Fund has partnerships with the 22 Texas college and universities, where we guarantee funds to students from each institution. It is our hope you can make a donation to Stars Scholarship Fund and invest in the students of our community so that these partnerships can continue, and we can assist more students for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.
We are fortunate to have the support of L&F Distributors, who generously underwrites operating expenses for Stars Scholarship Fund, which enables us to commit 100% of the funds you contribute to student scholarships.
In times like this, we’re reminded of how interconnected we all are. Thank you for being part of our community. Without you, none of it is possible.
