We’re excited to announce that the 2025 Rio Grande Valley Extravaganza is officially scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025! Doors will open at 6 PM, and we are thrilled to welcome renowned stand-up comedian Steve Treviño as this year’s featured entertainer.

This year’s theme, “Comedy & Comfort for College,” invites guests to enjoy a fun, relaxed evening of laughter and philanthropy while supporting higher education. Dress comfortably in jeans and college spirit gear, and get ready for a smart-casual night of great food, entertainment, and impact!

Supporting Higher Education & Mental Health

By attending the Rio Grande Valley Extravaganza, you’re doing more than enjoying a fantastic night—you’re transforming lives. 100% of the proceeds from this event go toward funding student scholarships through the Stars Scholarship Fund, making higher education more accessible for students in South and West Texas.

In addition, we are proud to continue our Mental Health Initiative, launched by the Stars Scholarship Fund and the LaMantia Family. This groundbreaking program provides financial and logistical support to Master of Science in Social Work graduates aspiring to become Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs).

Led by Texas Senator and Stars Board Chairperson Morgan LaMantia, this initiative addresses the growing need for culturally and linguistically competent mental health professionals. With a $1 million pledge from the LaMantia Family, the program removes financial barriers by covering supervision costs and providing essential training. Programs have already launched at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, with a second program at the University of Texas at El Paso set to begin in Spring 2025.
